The Society of St Vincent de Paul North Idaho was awarded $16,000 from the Home Partnership Foundation in support of the St Vincent de Paul North Idaho Warming Center. “This will go a long way for us to really help so many more who need to get out of the cold” says Dick Mott, St Vincent board member and advisor for the Warming Center. “St Vincent de Paul North Idaho does so much for this region, but when it’s cold out is our time to really make a difference”. St Vincent de Paul North Idaho Warming Center, located at 117 E. Walnut in Coeur d’Alene, is open from 8pm-8am when the temperature drops to near 15 degrees. This also includes wind-chill.
The St Vincent de Paul North Idaho Warming Center was opened this season on December 2, 2009. After this last cold snap there St Vincent de Paul North Idaho has filled 114 beds in just 20 nights with most of January and February still to come. Luckily, through generous donations such as this one, St Vincent de Paul North Idaho has been able to feed everyone every night. Also, those who need it have been able to swap out wet sleeping bags, coats, and gloves. As long as the weather is hovering around 15 degrees or below the St Vincent de Paul North Idaho Warming Center will be open.
